The National Honor Society is one of the most distinguished associations honoring outstanding students. In its sixty years of existance, the Society numbers former presidents, astronauts, and significant contributors to American society.
The VMA Chapter requires a G.P.A.(grade point average) of 3.5. In addition, each student is expected to exemplify the cornerstones of the society, service, leadership, and character.
Our National Honor Society at Villa Madonna Academy has continued to grow in membership; a tribute to the quality and achievement of the student. We have also expanded our service projects in addition to tutoring students.
Two years ago we added the adoption of the sister school, St. Bernard's, now consolidated with Holy Spirit School in Bellevue. Holy Trinity has been our designated new sister school. Our annual coat drive has grown to include hats, mittens, and scarves. Valentine and Easter have become special occasions for the N.H.S. to bring candy treats and Easter eggs. Our students have been gifted with book mark and thank you notes from the appreciative youngsters at Holy Trinity.
Last year NHS also embarked on new projects: helping the Community Pharmacy at their Celebrate! event and beginning a helping relationship with Madonna House, a home for unwed mothers.
As an organization of eager achieving students the National Honor Society at Villa Madonna Academy seeks to honor not only the scholastically gifted but the well-rounded student who displays an "educated heart".
