World Cultures and Geography:

This course includes the broad study of World Cultures and Physical and Human/Cultural Geography.

Each section of World Cultures will be preceded with a geographical overview of the area that will be discussed. The following topics are covered in the course: Paleolithic age, Mesolithic age, Neolithic age, Ancient Civilizations, Islam, Imperialist China, the Renaissance and Reformation, the Industrial Revoloution, the World at War, the Cold War, etc. 

During the course we use the Glencoe 2003 World Geography textbook which contains significant contributions from the National Geographic Society. The book is organized to support six essential elements and the eighteen geography standards which have been developed for national geography standards.  These two frameworks incorporate the traditional five themes of geography which are location, place, human-environment interaction, movement and regions.
