Creative Writing
 
This course emphasizes writing imaginative literature and developing an individual style. In order to do this we will examine the creative process, experiment with a variety of creative exercises, read, analyze, and review a variety of literary examples, and we will compose stories, poems, and dramatic scenes. This course will study the following areas: character, setting, plot, structure, editing, pace, and developing an individual voice. We will read various forms of writing. This will assist us in developing our creativity and sharpening our editors’ eye.
 
Course Prerequisites:
This course is an elective. Deadlines are an important part of this course. Good candidates for this course will submit their works on time, will share and comment on the works in the class in a serious and respectful manner, and will have a willingness to learn.
