Broadcast Journalism:
The course will focus on the ethics of journalism, the journalistic style of writing especially as it pertains to broadcast journalism, elements of newsworthiness, and airing a broadcast. Broadcast Journalism begins with an overview of television news history along with a survey of local and national newscasts.
Students will learn every aspect of television news production, from writing and anchoring, to producing, photography and editing. Each student will contribute to both the VMA news broadcast in the cafeteria along with a webcast on the VMA website that will be updated at least once each week. This is a very hands-on class and every student is expected to participate daily. Students also must work well independently.
