Students may earn community service hours by volunteering at nonprofit groups such as schools, places of worship, charitable organizations, local agencies - services that are strictly voluntary. Students and parents are encouraged to register on UGive.org. After registering, students and parents may navigate the site and find service opportunities or select from the "Featured Opportunities" under the "My School" tab. Only the Service Coordinator may grant approval for community service activities.

Parents should refrain from signing their son or daughter’s verification form even if he or she supervised the activity. Another supervising adult should sign the form.

Students must complete and turn in documentation of all required community service hours by the end of each quarter. All service documentation is due no later than May 1 of each year.

Verification forms must be turned in during the year in which the work was performed.

We recommend that students keep copies of their verification forms for their records, as these may be very helpful in completing applications for scholarships, colleges, and resumes for employment. Sincere and thoughtful responses to the reflection questions may prove very valuable in essays.
