From the principal's desk...

Welcome to Villa Madonna Academy Elementary and Junior High School where service, arts and technology are integrated within our solid curriculum.  Villa Madonna Academy Elementary and Junior High School is recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School for our academic excellence. This school year, we will be focusing on our theme, Rooted in Benedictine Values.  Teachers at Villa model the Benedictine values of reverence and peace, scholarship, service and community, during class meetings and throughout the school day to help students integrate the values into their daily lives.

Our curriculum includes course work that encompasses the following major subjects:  Religion, Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Spanish or French, Fine Arts, Physical Education and Technology.  Enrichment opportunities as well as Athletic and Service programs are also an integral part of our students’ lives.  You can find our students cleaning the gardens around the Holy Spirit Entrance, preparing for First Communion, celebrating at a Nursery Rhyme Feast, creating ramps that allow a car to travel at the slowest speed, or writing to their pen pals in Mexico.  You can find the teachers attending workshops, planning lessons, developing rubrics, leading drama club or academic team, and emphasizing higher level thinking skills throughout the day.  We are at the Zoo collecting information for math class, on an edible nature hike, mummifying chickens, creating relief maps out of clay, or sampling varieties of apples to celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day.  We are at Welcome House stocking shelves, in the carpool line sharing information about seatbelt safety, and at the Monastery helping the sisters.  We are practicing good sportsmanship, having fun with our friends, and spreading the word of God through the Benedictine values we are reminded of each day.

Service learning activities intrinsically support and enhance the mission of Villa Madonna Academy.  We have been recognized by the Mayerson Foundation as a School of Contribution for the past five years for the service learning projects that we have been doing at VMA.  Teachers and students are already working hard to integrate service learning into the curriculum and provide students with the opportunity to participate in service learning experiences.   Teachers and students work in collaboration with one another and with Children’s Inc. to provide and promote service within our school and community.

Many wonderful and exciting things are happening at Villa Madonna Academy.
