Welcome to the 2011- 2012 Academic Team Season.
This year our moderators are Ms. Laura Haskamp and Mrs. Joyce Kramer.
An information paper will be distributed the first week of school with quick recall practice scheduled for Monday, August 22 - after school until 3:45 in room 104.The Quick Recall team consists of varsity, junior varsity and 6th grade students. Four person teams for each group compete locally in 10 matches before Christmas and the varsity team competes in the Governor's Cup competition. The quick recall team and those taking the Language Arts. Arts and Humanities and Social Studies tests must read The Glory Field by Walter Dean Myers.
FPS - The Future Problem Solving team is a group of 4-6 students studying and solving current social issues.
Governor's Cup Written Test competition:
Students will take practice tests in math, language arts, science, social studies, and arts and humanities and written composition. Actual tests last 50 minutes. Students with the highest scores on the practice tests will be asked to take these tests at the Governor's Cup competition.
Governor's Cup Dates: District - January 17 and 21; Regional - January 31 and February 4, and State - March 10-12 in Lexington. Students interested in taking written tests and in being on the varsity quick recall and FPS teams must be available for all of these dates.
