The Kindergarten Art course is an introductory course. Students are introduced to the elements of art and principles of design and the different media artists use. They explore these by looking at other artist’s work and by producing meaningful works of their own at an age appropriate level.

The First Grade Art course is an introductory course. Students are introduced to the elements of art and principles of design and the different media artists use. They explore these by looking at other artist’s work and by producing meaningful works of their own at an age appropriate level.

The Second Grade Art course focuses on developing creativity, art production skills and visual communication. Students learn different techniques that artists use in production and communicating ideas.

The Third Grade Art course focuses on different processes artists use and why. Students learn about the different aspects and steps of art production. They gain an appreciation for technique and time.

The Fourth Grade Art course focuses on two-dimensional and three dimensional processes, techniques and purposes. Drawing and painting skills are developed through practice and observation. Students explore a variety of subject matters.

The Fifth Grade Art course allows students to nurture developing skills. Different styles and cultures are presented allowing students opportunities to develop creative inspiration and confidence in their own abilities. 

The Sixth Grade Art course is closely connected to the subjects students cover in social studies. Students focus on the purpose of art, art history, aesthetics, and self-reflection. Students create artworks that are meaningful and reflective of their knowledge.

The Seventh Grade Art course provides the students with the opportunity to learn a variety of art techniques and skills. The students learn proper handling of art tools and materials through a variety of media. The students explore the art elements and principles of design as well as exemplary artists and art styles through studio art projects.

The Eighth Grade Art course provides the students with further instruction in art techniques and skills. The students continue to learn proper handling of art tools and materials through a variety of media. The students explore the art elements and principles of design as well as exemplary artists and art styles through studio art projects.
