In the Acts of the Apostles, we hear about Lydia, a holy woman who accepted the good news about Jesus as soon as she heard it.
Please stand for the prayer and pledge…
O God, Creator of the universe, you hold each of us in the palm of your hand. Extend to each member of the Villa community an awareness of your presence, your healing and your peace. Help us to love and respect one another, to develop our gifts to the best of our abilities, and to use those gifts in the service of others. Help us work together to grow into mature Christian people. We ask this in the name of Jesus, your Son and our brother. Amen.
Show yourselves as good stewards this week by your treatment of items in the cafeteria. It may be more difficult to be aware of stewardship in a place where the atmosphere is more relaxed and where students are not in full view of the teacher. This is a good test of your value of stewardship. Act in a way to prove yourself a good steward.
As the fifth grade students learn more about recycling, they would like to share information with the Villa Community. Each day over the next few weeks they will share information on recycling.
- Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours or the equivalent of a half a gallon of gasoline.
- 350,000 aluminum cans are produced every minute!
- More aluminum goes into beverage cans than any other product.
- Once an aluminum can is recycled it can be part of a new can within six weeks.
Today there will be a Cultural Arts Presentation in theater. Thanks to Melissa Collins for planning this event. Grades K-3 will watch Rumpelstilskin and grades 4-8 will watch 1,000 Cranes. Thank you to the PTAO and Fine Arts Patrons for their support of our cultural programs.
Gallery night was a huge success. Thank you to the children and parents who supported this fine program. Special thanks to Melissa Collins, Paula Ransom, Janet Pemberton, Jan Hermann and the Fine Arts Patrons for all of their planning of the event.
Last Friday’s Grandparents Day was a wonderful day for the kindergarten and primary students and their grandparents. The children enjoyed showing their grandparents their classrooms, the art work displayed in the halls, and the special performance that they planned for their grandparents. The teachers with the help of Mrs. Marla Humphrey and her many assistants organized the day and provided delicious treats for all to enjoy.
At the Connor Cougar Classic Track meet on Saturday our teams turned out some amazing performances. Of the 12 teams there the girls finished 2nd overall and the boys finished 3rd. Happy Faculty/Staff Appreciation Week! This week Becky Motley and the PTAO have organized a fun week to show appreciation to our teachers during Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. Please take some time this week to thank your teachers and the staff here at Villa who make this such a great school.
Thank you for your continued support of our teachers and their efforts. Villa enjoys the outstanding support of parent volunteers. Over 90% of our parents volunteer in some capacity throughout the school year. Gallery Night and Grandparents Day could not happen without the help of our parent volunteers!
