Throughout the month of May, we celebrate Mary, the Mother of God. In the whole history of the world, nobody has ever been quite as brave as Mary. Everything depended on what she would say when the angel Gabriel announced to her that she would become pregnant and give birth to the Son of God. It is sometimes easy for us to forget that Mary had a choice. After she heard what the angel had to say, she could have said, “No!” But instead, Mary took a radical step. Let us pray that we can become as generous as Mary was with her life.
Please stand for the prayer and pledge…
God, keep everybody safe and healthy. Help everyone be kind to one another. Let there be peace in the world. Thank you for the teachers at Villa. ~Kayla
Thank you God for being with my grandpa and making sure he is okay. Help our troops to come home safe. Bless our summer to be safe and happy. Amen. ~Hunter
Lord, please cure the sick and feed the hungry. Thank you for my friends, family and America. Help me to bring peace to the world. Help me to be kind to one another. Amen. ~Karl

- The average American uses seven trees a year in paper, wood and other products made from trees. This amounts to about 2 billion trees per year!
- The amount of wood and paper we throw away each year is enough to heat 50 million homes for 20 years.
- When you smell a dump, what you actually smell is the paper in the dump!
- Approximately 1 billion trees worth of paper are thrown away every year in the U.S.
- Americans use 85 million tons of paper a year; about 680 pounds per person.
- The average household throws away 13,000 separate pieces of paper each year. Most is packaging and junk mail.

This year’s walk-a-thon will be held on Friday, May 2. This annual event is a fun, healthy way to raise funds for the elementary school. Since it is a fund raiser, the event is organized by the Development Office. Eighth grade student, Sarah McBride, designed the T-shirts that will be worn by all of the students. Students may be out of uniform for these outdoor events. Students may not bring electronic devices or squirt guns to school for the events. The students will participate in our annual field day on the morning of May 2, have a picnic lunch, and then begin walk-a-thon about 12:45. Parents are invited to attend walk-a-thon to walk with their children.
Congratulations to the 5th grade students who completed the D.A.R.E. program under the guidance of Officer Mel Wright from the Villa Hills Police Department.
