Course topics to be covered:

1st grade is when the students will begin to learn the basic vocabulary that is notated by a (*).  They will continue to learn these basic vocabulary groups as we build their vocabulary when they continue with their French at Villa Madonna Academy.  They will also be introduced to music, readings of French/English children's books, and various cartoons in French.

Homework/Studying -- The best way to study for a foreign language is to devote at least 5 minutes of studying every night, even if you do not have French class the next day.  This can be done on the car ride to/from school.  I encourage all students to make flashcards as a means of studying vocabulary. 

Parents-- please review with your child the homework assigned to them.  I will not post any assignments on the webpages.  I will work with the homeroom teachers in grades 1st-4th to make sure that the students are aware of what their homework is. 

Also parents please keep in mind that your child will need as much encouragement from you as possible, please give them and show them as much support as possible. I encourage your students everynight to study the vocabulary that we are going over in class.  A couple minutes of studying everynight will help your student to remember the vocabulary. I hope that you can help them see how fun andexciting learning a new language, and about a new culture, can be for them.
