“This Land Is Your Land” - students did an outstanding job performing for the Crescent Springs/                          Villa Hills Community 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony by memorizing 3 verses of the      

                         song.

            “Up the Ladder, Down the Ladder”: students sang on sol-mi-la and used body percussion

on two levels

            “Fuzzy Wuzzy” – students rhythmically chanted, played barred instruments in the

pentatonic scale, and created an A-B-A Song

            “Down to the Baker’s Shop” – students sang Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La – ear training had

students identify and then play on barred percussion instruments Do-Re-Mi

            “The Golden Rule” – students sang on So-Mi-La

            “The Cell Phone”  - students rhythmical chant while using an ostinato body percussion on

two levels

            “Remember Me” – students sang on Do-Re-Mi-So and accompanied on the barred

percussion instruments

            “I Like Singin’ “ – sang 4 sixteenth note patterns and 1 eighth note – 2 sixteenth note

Patterns

            “Mrssus Tong” – students vary the music on Loud/Soft, High/Low, Fast/Slow

            “Plainsies Clapsies” – sang So-Mi-La, bounced balls on accented beats, cooperative

learning included movement with a partner, accompanied by barred percussion

and non-pitched percussion instruments

            “No Robbers Out Today” – sang on So-Mi and accompanied on barred percussion

instruments

Do you like being involved in your students’ projects?  As part of “Music In Our Schools Month” we will be making castanets in March.  All students will need  two 6” x 2” strips of corrugated cardboard, 2 large bottle caps (juice or ice tea lids) with smooth edges and a ruler.  We need some parents to help coordinate this event.  Please let me know if you are available to assist with this project on the first two Monday afternoons in March.

All students need a binder, spiral notebook, and pencil for music class.  These supplies will be kept in the music room.  Binders and spiral notebooks will also be used in future years.

It would be appreciated if you send hand sanitizer in with your child if you have not yet sent it in.  Thanks!

Students also need a recorder.  I recommend a Hohner one piece recorder.  If your student does not have a recorder and has not previously ordered one from me, I can order them at the discounted rate of $6.50.  They will be used in Grades 3-6.
