7th Grade – August September
Important:
Band Concerts are at 2:00 p.m. on the first Sunday in December and the first Sunday in May.
Students need to be in my room with instrument assembled and ready to warm up no later than 1:40.
Dress is the following:
Boys – black pants, shoes, socks, belt. White dress shirt (collar needed) or white VMA shirt with only the VMA logo.
Girls – black from waist down – pants are acceptable as are skirts with black hose – white dress blouse or white VMA shirt with only the VMA logo.
Note: All students need to bring home his/her instrument on Monday and on Tuesday evenings. Students are expect to practice 15 minutes a night but are required to practice 15 minutes 4 different evenings.
Reward: Any student earning 4 perfect scores (25 points) in a row on playing tests do not have to take the instrument home on Monday!
Grading: Students will earn grades based on the following:
1. Instrument, music, pencil, and any other materials required brought to class each time. This includes cork grease, reeds, slide oil, valve oil, etc.
2. Name on the case.
3. Good posture while playing, good tone, correct articulation, correct notes and embouchure, accurate rhythm.
4. Effort, participation, cooperation.
5. Concert attendance.
8th Grade – August September
