2006-2007

The girl’s high school softball team had a fabulous fast pitch season with a record 13-1 The team tied for first place in the Holy Cross Tournament.  Sixth grader, Natalie Spicker was a huge part of this success. Natalie was the starting pitcher and ended with 45 strike outs in her 9 games that she pitched.  On the offensive side the team was led by senior Sara Frank, eighth grader Caroline Spicker, and senior Lauren Gerst.  Sara led the team with 42 steals and batted with a .542 average. Caroline Spicker was second in steals with 30.  She led the team batting .667 and had 26 RBI. Lauren Gerst led the team with 31 RBI and batted  .645 in the clean up position.  Not being a big team, Villa used their speed to their advantage ending the short 14 game season with 183 steals.
The end of this season marked the last of slow pitch for Villa Madonna. Villa Madonna has had many great years playing slow pitch but now most teams including Villa will advance to fast pitch only.  Many injuries plagued our slow pitch season this year and the team suffered several losses.  We say good-bye to seniors Colleen Desmond, Lauren Gerst, Alex Polito, Sara Frank and Katie Kemper and wish them the best in college. The team was coached by Gary Baker, Katie Uhling, Seratin Seremitis and Chris Spicker.
