J.V. Coach:   Jon Aydt

Assistant Coach: Phil Hamilton

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:

Varsity:

- The Blue Lightning golf squad played exceptionally well in the Regional tournament at Boone Links on Sept. 24. Windy, hard and dry conditions made for high scoring for several of the better players in the area, but Villa posted its fourth best finish ever in a Regional and its second best score ever with a 350, good for 8th place out of 20 teams. Villa was just eight strokes behind third place finisher St. Henry. Soph David Schuh paced Villa with an 85, just 3 strokes out of a playoff spot for State. Playing their best rounds of the year, considering the conditions, were Junior T. J. Duggan who shot an 86 and 8th grader Seattle Stein who came in with an 88.

- On Sept. 22, Villa placed 9th out of 18 teams at the Grant County Invitational at Eagle Creek C.C. Schuh led the team with a 76 and Senior Brian Hamilton shot a 78, their best 18 hole scores of the season.

- Villa unfortunately could not "4-peat" in the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference tournament at Hickory Sticks on Sept. 17, coming in second to Beechwood. However, Hamilton took home a second place trophy in Division III with an 81. Schuh tied for third with an 82 but lost in a playoff for the trophy.

- Senior Night was Sept 19 against Brossart. Schuh led Villa with a 38 and Seniors Vince Kreinist and Tony Clark played and Clark shot his best 9 hole round of the year, a 43.

- Sophomore Ryan Schroth tied for 6th out of 90 golfers at the Conner High School Cougar Classic at Boone Links on Aug. 8 with a 7-over 79, helping Villa finish 11th out of 18 teams. Schroth drove beautifully and solved the fast and rock hard greens at Boone with great short game touch in his career-best round in his first week of fulltime varsity action as a Blue Lightning golfer.
