Planned Giving

What is a “Planned Gift”?

A planned gift is a gift to a school or charity that is planned during your lifetime but not distributed until you (and/or your heirs) pass away. Planning the gift in advance allows you to take into consideration your philanthropic and financial goals as well as your current financial situation. Also, planned giving is a way for you to make a meaningful gift to Villa later, even if you can’t do so during your lifetime. Making a planned gift is simpler than many think. Below are the types of planned gifts that you can make to Villa Madonna Academy:

Bequests
You can
leave your legacy at Villa by naming Villa Madonna Academy in your will. Villa has been blessed to have had many alumni and friends include Villa in their estate plans. You do not need to have a great deal of wealth in order to name Villa Madonna Academy in your will: anyone can choose to leave a gift to Villa by naming a dollar amount or percentage in their will. Some have chosen to give much needed unrestricted financial support, while others have given to the Villa Madonna Academy Endowment or establish scholarships.

Charitable Gift Annuities
A charitable gift annuity is a gift that gives back to you! Through a gift annuity, you (and your spouse, if you wish) give a set amount to Villa Madonna Academy and then receive a guaranteed fixed income amount every year for the rest of your lifetime. In addition, you may be eligible for a charitable tax deduction in the year you set up the gift annuity. The principal amount remaining at your death would then benefit the school. If you have appreciated long-term securities that are generating little to no income, a charitable gift annuity is a wonderful way to avoid a significant amount of capital-gain taxes. Villa offers charitable gift annuities through The Greater Cincinnati Foundation to donors age
70 and older. For more information regarding charitable gift annuities, please visit the American Council on Gift Annuities Donor’s Corner here.

Gifts of Life Insurance
Naming Villa Madonna Academy as a life insurance beneficiary is a simple and effective way to make a planned gift to Villa. You can purchase a life insurance policy specifically with the school as the sole beneficiary or you can name Villa as one of several beneficiaries on an existing or new life insurance policy. Your planned gift made to Villa through a life insurance policy will give Villa an unrestricted gift that the school can use in the future to support and further its mission.
