2011 GIRLS GOLF
Congratulations to senior Katie Gross, who has been named to the 1st team Enquirer girls golf all star team from this past Falls golf season. Congratulations also to sophomore Nicole Zatorski and 8th grader Jenna McGuire who made honorable mention for the same team.

Congratulations to senior Katie Gross who was voted to the All 6th Region Girls Golf Team by the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association. The 10 member team was voted on by coaches throughout the region and state. As a member of the team, Katie was recognized as one of the 10 best high school players in Northern Kentucky this past season.
Congratulations to Katie on this well- deserved honor.
09/27/11 - On Tuesday, the Villa Girls Varsity golf team of Katie Gross, Rachel Paxton, Sarah Krems, Nicole Zatorski and Jenna McGuire traveled to Twin Oaks Golf Course to compete in the 6th Region Golf Tournament. On a cold, windy, wet day, the girls gave it their all, finishing with a team score of 384, which was good for 5th place out of 19 teams. Since only the top 2 teams qualify for next weeks state tournament, our season ends today. But it was a season filled with a lot of team success, filled with a lot of fun, and a lot to be thankful for.
Playing their last match in a Villa uniform were seniors Katie Gross and Rachel Paxton. Showing true senior leadership both on and off the course, they led us in scoring. Katie with a fine round of 90 and Rachel with a 95. We appreciate all they have done over the years to help make Villa girls golf what it is today.
09/24/11 - On Saturday, the Villa Girls JV Golf team of Meggie Lund, Shanna Doumont, Madison Trenkamp, Monica Spritzky and Tara-Lynne Skinner traveled to Falmouth, Ky. to compete in the Pendleton County JV Tournament. On a very cold, wet difficult Kincaid Lake State Park golf course, we are proud to report that our girls Won the Championship !!!! The margin of victory was 20 strokes over 2nd place Notre Dame. We are also happy to report that junior Meggie Lund was the individual medalist with a fine round of 93. Sophomore Shanna Doumont earned individual 4th place honors and freshman Monica Spritzky earned 5th.
09/23/11 - On Friday, the Villa Girls Varsity Golf team traveled to Circling Hills Golf Course in Harrison, Ohio to take on Cincinnati Mercy. The final score of the match was Mercy 181, Villa 197. Leading the way for the Blue Lightning was senior Katie Gross with a 47, followed by sophomore Nicole Zatorski with a 48 and senior Rachel Paxton with a 49.
09/21/11 - On Thursday, The Villa Girls Golf JV team played at the Pioneer Golf Course at Kenton County against the freshman team from Notre Dame, and the Blue Lightning came away with a 184-228 victory. Leading the way for Villa was junior Meggie Lund with a 42, followed by freshman Madison Trenkamp with a 46 and sophomore Shanna Doumont and freshman Monica Spritzky with a 48. The JV team next plays on Saturday at the Pendleton County JV Tournament at Kincaid Lake Park.
09/20/11 - On Tuesday the Villa Girls Golf JV team took on the varsity team from Simon Kenton, and Villa came away with a 195-263 victory. Leading the way for Villa was junior Meggie Lund with a 45, followed by sophomore Shanna Doumont with a 48 and freshman Madison Trenkamp with a 49. The JV team next plays Ryle on Wednesday at World of Golf.
09/17/11 - The Villa Girls Varsity Golf Team of Katie Gross, Rachel Paxton, Sarah Krems, Nicole Zatorski and Jenna McGuire traveled to the Pioneer Golf Course at Kenton County to participate in the NKAC Golf Tournament. After battling the early morning cold, we are happy to report the girls are Conference Champions !! The team score of 381, while not our best of the year, was good for a 17 stroke victory over second place Bishop Brossart. Also participating in our division were Holy Cross, St. Henry, Beechwood, Highlands and Newport Central Catholic. Individually. senior Katie Gross shot a fine round of 86, which was good for 2nd place. Sophomore Nicole Zatorski shot a round of 95 which was good for a 5th place finish.
09/16/11 - On a cold and windy Friday, the Villa Girls Varsity and JV teams traveled to The Pioneer Golf Course at Kenton County for two important late season matches. The varsity took on Highlands and came away with a 187-219 win. Leading the way for the Blue Lightening was senior Katie Gross, junior Sarah Krems and sophomore Nicole Zatorski who all shot rounds of 46. The JV team took on the JV team from Notre Dame, and Villa came away with a very nice 186-193 victory. Leading the way for Villa was junior Meggie Lund and freshman Madison Trenkamp, who both shot rounds of 41. Making great contributions when their score was needed for the team were 7th graders Tara-Lynne Skinner and Lauren Bracken who both shot rounds of 52.
09/14/11 - On Wednesday, the Villa Girls JV Golf Team traveled to Glenview Golf Course to take on Wyoming High School. When all the dust had settled, the Blue Lightning came away with a 200-225 victory. Leading the way for Villa was freshman Madison Trenkamp, who was the match medalist with a 47. She was followed by junior Sarah Krems with a 48 and freshman Monica Spritzky with a 51.
09/13/11 - On Monday, the Villa Girls Varsity golf team traveled to Wyoming Country Club to play a tri-match against Wyoming High School and Cincinnati Seton. On a very tough golf course that was recently ranked as one of the top 25 nine hole courses in America, Villa came away with a win and a loss. The final score was Seton 181, Villa 205 and Wyoming 225. The varsity next plays on Friday at The Pioneer Golf Course at Kenton County against Highlands.
09/09/11 - On Friday, the Villa Girls Golf Team of Sarah Krems, Meggie Lund, Nicole Zatorski, Madison Trenkamp and Jenna McGuire traveled to Paducah, Ky. to play in Saturday's All "A" State Golf Tournament. Due to some early morning fog, many of the girls were not able to complete there round before play was halted because of darkness. The teams returned to the course Sunday morning to continue where they had left off. The girls played hard, represented Villa well and came away with an 8th place finish in the state. Leading the way for the Blue Lightening was sophomore Nicole Zatorski with an 87, followed by 8th grader Jenna McGuire with a 93 and junior Meggie Lund with a 95.
If you want to see all the final results of this weekends state tournament, it is on the All "A" website. www.allaclassic.org As a team we finished 8th in the state. Congratulations to sophomore Nicole Zatorski who was our highest individual finisher in 27th place out of 92 players.
The Villa Girls JV team was also in action Monday at Devou Park and came away with a win against Conner High School. Leading the way for Villa was sophomore Shanna Doumont with a 43, followed by freshman Madison Trenkamp with a 45 and freshman Monica Spritzky with a 47.
09/08/11 - The Villa Girls Varsity Golf Team played on Thursday on a wet and cool course at Highland Country Club against Cincinnati Seton and Seton came away with a 178-199 victory. Leading the way for Villa was sophomore Nicole Zatorski with a 46, followed by senior Rachel Paxton with a 48 and freshman Madison Trenkamp with a 49. The varsity next plays on Saturday at the State All "A" Golf Tournament in Paducah, Ky. Good Luck Girls!
09/07/11 - On Wednesday, the Villa Girls Golf JV team played at the Pioneer Golf Course at Kenton County against Cincinnati Mercy. It could have been declared a tri-match as the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee showed up and proved an equally challenging opponent for the girls. But when all the wet players left the course after 6 holes, it was declared an official match and Villa came away with a 136-144 win. Leading the way for Villa was freshman Madison Trenkamp with a 32, which was good for co-medalist honors, followed by junior Meggie Lund with a 34 and junior Sarah Krems and freshman Monica Spritzky with a 35.
08/31/11 - The Villa Girls JV team played host on Tuesday to the varsity team from Newport Central Catholic and Villa came away with a 189-225 win. Leading the way for the Blue Lightning was sophomore Shanna Doumont with a 44 followed by junior Meggie Lund with a 45. The JV next plays on Tuesday in a tri-match against Grant County and Pendleton County at World of Golf.
The Middle School was also in action Tuesday at World of Golf. The girls are showing amazing improvement in their game as the year progresses. Leading the way for Villa today was 7th grader Lauren Bracken with a 44 followed by 7th grader Natalie Boucher with a 46.
08/29/11 - On Monday, the Villa Girls Varsity Golf team traveled to Boone Links to take on the Ryle Lady Raiders. When all the dust had settled, Villa had come away with a 175-177 win !! In the true spirit of team golf, the match came down to the 3rd and final foursome, where junior Sarah Krems shot a fine round of 39 to help secure the victory for the Blue Lightning. Sarah's score was 1 stroke away from medalist honors. Following Sarah in scoring was sophomore Nicole Zatorski with a 42 and 8th grader Jenna McGuire with a 45. After playing a lot of golf in August, and a well deserved Labor Day break, the varsity gets back at it next week with a match against Cincinnati Seton and then a trip to Paducah, Ky. for the State All "A" Tournament.
08/24/11 - The Villa Girls Varsity Golf team played host on Wednesday to Cincinnati St. Ursula at Summit Hills Country Club. On a day that was both hot and very windy, our girls stayed focused and played hard, but came up a little short as St. Ursula prevailed, 169-183. Leading the way for Villa was senior Katie Gross with a 43, followed by junior Sarah Krems with a 44, that included a birdie on the 9th hole. Eight grader Jenna McGuire and senior Rachel Paxton contributed a 47 and 49 respectively. The varsity next plays on Monday against Ryle at Boone Links.
08/23/11 - The Villa Girls Varsity Golf team played at Highland Country Club Tuesday against Cincinnati Indian Hill and came away with a 197-230 victory. The course proved challenging as good chipping and putting became essential for a good score. Leading the way for Villa was senior Katie Gross with a 47, followed by 8th grader Jenna McGuire with a 49 and sophomore Nicole Zatorski with a 50.
08/19/11 - the Villa Girls Varsity Golf team played at Summit Hills Country Club against Notre Dame Academy, and came up a little short as Notre Dame pulled out a 170-182 victory. Senior Katie Gross led Villa with a 44, followed by senior Rachel Paxton and sophomore Shanna Doumont with 45's. The fact that the score against the perennial region power was as close as it was says a lot for how hard the girls are working to be the best individual and team players they can be.
08/18/11 - The Villa Girls Varsity golf team played Cincinnati Mercy Thursday on a very difficult Triple Crown Country Club. Mercy came away with a very close 199-201 victory. The girls battled hard and never gave up, as the match was not decided until the last hole. Leading the way for Villa, with the 2nd best score of the day, was senior Katie Gross with a 48. She was followed by 8th grader Jenna McGuire with a 49 and sophomore Nicole Zatorski with a 50. One of the highlights of the match was an 80 ft. putt that was made for birdie on the 7th hole by senior Rachel Paxton. The varsity plays again Friday at Summit Hills Country Club against Notre Dame.

08/17/11 - On a very difficult Devou Park Golf Course, the Villa Madonna junior varsity girls' golf team ran its record to 5-1 on the season with a tri-match win over bigger schools Notre Dame and Cincinnati McAuley. Villa fired a team total of 199, which was 14 shots better than Notre Dame and 34 shots better than McAuley. Freshman Madison Trenkamp led the way with a 46, followed by sophomore Shanna Doumont with a 50. In addition to being 5-1 in matches, the Villa JV also won the Mason County Invitational a couple of weeks ago.
08/11/11 - VILLA GIRLS GOLF TEAM WINS ALL "A" REGIONAL !! The Villa girls varsity golf team captured the regional All "A" golf tournament today with a convincing and confident win at AJ Jolly Golf Course. The team of Katie Gross, Rachel Paxton, Nicole Zatorski, Madison Trenkamp and Jenna McGuire shot a team total of 354, which was 19 strokes better than our previous best, and easily out paced 2nd place finisher, St. Henry. The win earned the team a berth in the State All "A" Tournament, which will be played at Silo Golf and Country Club in Paducah, Kentucky on Saturday, September 10th. Villa was led in scoring by 8th grader Jenna McGuire, who shot a fine round of 86, which was good for 2nd place individually. The 3rd place individual was Sophomore Nicole Zatorski with an 87. Fourth place went to Senior Katie Gross with an 89. Fifth place went to Senior Rachel Paxton with a 92. Congratulations girls on a great TEAM win !!!!!!!
08/04/11 - The Varsity travelled to Maysville to play in the Mason County Invitational against a field of some of the best teams in Kentucky. Louisville Sacred Heart was again the winner in the 16 team field. Our team finished 8th with a score of 374, which was only 1 stroke higher than our 373 on Tuesday, when we finished 3rd at Grant County. Leading the way for Villa was senior Katie Gross and sophomore Nicole Zatorski, who each shot 92.
The JV team also travelled to Maysville to play in the Mason County JV Invitational. The team of Madison Trenkamp, Sarah Krems, Monica Spritzky, Meggie Lund and Tara-Lynne Skinner won the tournament in a field that included state powers Louisville Sacred Heart and Notre Dame !!!!! Villa shot a team total of 195, which was 6 strokes better than Sacred Heart and 20 strokes better than Notre Dame. Leading the way was Freshman Madison Trenkamp, who shot a 46 on a very difficult Maysville Country Club course. That was good for an individual tie for 2nd place, but she actually got the 3rd place plaque in a scorecard playoff. Junior Sarah Krems shot an impressive 47, which was good for 5th individually.
The Middle School team had their first match of the season at World of Golf and shot some impressive scores. In what was the first time in a 9 hole match for some, Villa was led by 6th grader Lauren Minella with a 49, followed by 7th graders Lauren Bracken and Neha Yousuf with 51's. Sixth grader Jenna Doumont finished with a 55, which did not include a single circle 8.
08/02/11 - The Villa Girls Golf Program got off to a GREAT start today ! The Varsity traveled to Eagle Creek for the Grant County Invitational. The girls fought hard and never gave up through the hot weather to post a team score of 379, which was good for 3rd place overall. Notre Dame came in first followed by Owen County. Senior Katie Gross scored a personal best competitive round of 87, which was individually good for 10th place overall. She was followed by Sophomore Nicole Zatorski with a 95.
The JV team also had a great day, defeating Beechwood 173-228 at World of Golf. Villa was led by Sophomore Shanna Doumont with a 4 over par 33. She was followed by 7th grader Lauren Bracken with a 43.
08/13/11 - The Villa Girls Varsity Golf Team of Katie Gross, Rachel Paxton, Sarah Krems, Nicole Zatorski and Jenna McGuire traveled to the Pioneer Golf Course at Kenton County today to play in our own Villa Madonna Invitational. There were 20 teams in the Championship Division. Henry County won with a team total of 336, Owensboro Catholic came in 2nd with a total of 343 and Villa Madonna was 3rd with a team total of 352. That total improved on our previous best this year by 2 strokes.
She was followed by Sophomore Nicole Zatorski with an 87, 8th grader Jenna McGuire with an 89 and Senior Rachel Paxton with a 91.
It is truly the best !!!

Leading the way for Villa was 7th graders Lauren Bracken, Amelia Green and Natalie Boucher with a 41, 46 and 47 respectively.
