Organization: Boosters
Date of Meeting: November 16, 2011
Attendees:
Directors: Mark Atwood, Pam McQueen, Mary Pavel
Officers: Greg Lamping, Dina Gibson, Joe Haynes, Patty Laber
Others: Teresa Werner, Doug Spritsky, Dan Gibson
Topics:
Shoot-a-thon: Thanks to Janet Baugh who is chairing the event. It will be held January 21. Event task descriptions are well defined and volunteer task leaders have been identified. Additional volunteers are needed for the event. Discussions were led by Teresa and included reviewing task descriptions, the flyer, ideas for additional games, and gift card distribution.
Financial Report: Joe reported that the current balance is ~$14,300. $10K will be given to the school athletic department. Concessions are going well and holding their own, financially.
Concessions: Thanks to John Piccirillo and Ajdin Dropic for chairing the concessions for the boys and girls teams, respectively. The boys first home game is 12/2/2011, girls – 12/5/2011. The concessions are well stocked. We strongly encourage basketball and cheer squad parents to volunteer. Also, students can be paid to work when volunteer staffing plan has gaps.
Golf Outing 2012: We have a tentative date at Boone Woods for September 16, 2012. This is a week later than usual in order to avoid the All ‘A’ Golf Tournament.
Succession Planning: We anticipate that replacements will be needed for Greg, the President, and Joe, the Treasurer. Their children will/have graduated. Additional openings are available to interested and motivated parties. If interested, please stop by a boosters meeting or talk with any Boosters board member.
8th Grade boys tournament: The tournament was a success. Much positive feedback was received. It is being planned again for next year.
Grade school basketball league update: We were seeking to host a middle school league, but an opportunity did not pan out. There may be opportunities to host some games in conjunction with the Heritage leagues. Volunteers would be needed for game day needs.
Spring Event: The Boosters are excited to announce a trip to Keeneland this spring. The event is Sunday, April 22. Dina is chairing the event.
Skyline night: The October and November Skyline night were successful, earning over $100 each night.
Weight Room: Both short term and long term plans are being developed for the weight room.
Title 9: Mark led a discussion about equity in the sports program, soliciting feedback regarding equity issues. No one present expressed any concerns regarding gender equity in the sports programs.
Tennis courts: The tennis courts are being resurfaced this winter. Mary invited Dan to work with the contractor and her in understanding drainage problems.
