Dear Villa Parents,
Welcome to the 2012 – 2013 school year. I hope that you have all had a relaxing and enjoyable summer vacation and are ready to begin all of the academic, artistic, and athletic activities that the school year will bring.
The VMA Athletic Boosters Organization, in conjunction with the VMA Athletic Department and the many gracious volunteers, raises funds in support of the athletic activities of all VMA student – athletes, grades 1 -12. These funds are a significant contributor to the VMA Athletic Department for the purchase and maintenance of team uniforms, athletic equipment, and other various needs related to athletics.
There are two major fundraisers held each year by the VMA Athletic Boosters: The Denny Van Houten Memorial Golf Outing and the Shoot-a-thon. The 21st annual golf outing took place this year on Monday, July 30, at Summit Hills Country Club in Crestview Hills. This event, chaired by Mary and Laszlo Pavel, was a great success. Thank you to Mary and Laszlo, as well as all of the Event, Dinner, and Hole Sponsors, the golfers, the event volunteers, and the golf outing committee members for your efforts in making this event successful.
The Annual Shoot-a-thon, chaired by Janet Baugh, will take place in January at the VMA gym. All students in grades 1 -12 are encouraged to participate. Coaches and parents are also encouraged to join in the fun, putting their basketball free throw shooting skills to the test.
In addition to the Shoot-a-thon and golf outing, the VMA Boosters Organization also operates the gym concession stand during the high school volleyball and basketball seasons, and other special events. This endeavor requires many dedicated volunteers throughout the season. Please consider volunteering some of your time to work at the concession stand. All volunteers must be VIRTUS trained.
The Boosters traditionally meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. in the gym conference room. Parents of all grade levels are invited to attend Booster meetings and become involved with the Booster organization. We are always looking for fresh ideas that will enable us to support the VMA athletic program. Please check the VMA calendar on the website, or check school announcements for verification of Booster meeting dates and times.
