To All students in grades 1-12:
Please join us for Villa’s 21st Annual Shoot-a-Thon on January 21, 2012. This event is one of the Athletic Boosters largest fundraisers and provides major support for Villa’s athletic programs. The Shoot-a-thon is fun for everyone and is a great opportunity for community spirit. All students are encouraged to participate, support Villa athletics and have some fun! If a student does not play on a basketball team, they are encouraged to come participate with their homeroom at a designated time to be communicated by way of the homeroom teacher once the shooting schedule is set.
Each team will shoot together and then will have their team photo taken immediately before or after their designated shooting slot. These team photos go in the yearbook and are also posted in the glass case in the gymnasium!
Each participant will find people to pledge an amount of money per shot made within a 3 minute period from a designated foul line. The participant will then collect the amount raised from each sponsor which is calculated based on the number of shots the player made times the amount per shot pledged. Sponsors may also choose to make a fixed donation if they prefer to do so.
Our goal is to net over $10,000 on this event. This can be done with a strong effort from all coaches and the Villa community. The key word is TEAMWORK!
Everyone is invited to participate in the Half Court Shot and Knock-Out competitions!
The times for the Half Court Shot and Knock-Out Competitions will be announced once the coaches have registered the teams for the shoot-a-thon.
Parents, Coaches and faculty – Please note that we will have a contest just for you!
For an entry fee of just $10, you will have the opportunity to see how many shots you can make from the foul line in a three minute period. The contestant making the most shots will split the pot (and have some great bragging rights!) We would like teachers to arrive with your homeroom to make it fun for them!
Time Table:
Week of January 2 – Forms will be distributed.
Week of January 16 – Shooting schedule will be set.
Saturday, January 21 - Shoot-a-thon Day – Students must bring their completed pledge sheets to the table in the gym when they shoot. Pledges must be paid on this day upon completion of their shooting. Team photos will be taken and picture forms must also be brought to the gym on this day.
Monday, January 30 - The top 10 fund raisers’ awards will be distributed at the Boys HS game at 7:00 p.m. (if the participant has turned in their money.) Our top performers and donators will be recognized and presented with a gift at this game.

Rules and Procedures:
· All Villa students are encouraged to participate. The homeroom with the greatest percentage participation will be treated to a pizza party on January 30 at approximately 7:15, between the JV and Varsity basketball games.
· The length of the foul shot will depend on the age of the shooter and coach’s discretion.
· You must turn in a pledge sheet at the table in order to participate in the competition.
· When you are finished shooting, pick up your pledge sheet, multiply your total shots made by the amount per shot pledged to determine the amount you will be collecting. All pledges will be electronically recorded. Please pay the amount of the pledges on the day of the event.
· After the shoot-a-thon event, the pledge sheet will be returned to you so that you can collect your pledges and reimburse yourself for the amount paid on the day of the event. Please pay in full upon completion of your turn.
· If possible, ask your parents to write one check for the total amount raised. Make the check payable to Villa Madonna Athletic Booster Club.
· If you have more than one child and want to give one gift per family, please state this on your sheet.
