1980's
Congratulations to Janie Balasa Schulte '81 who has been promoted to Chief Operations Officer of Gerner & Kearns, Attorneys at Law. Gerner and Kearns' executive office is in Newport, KY with other offices in Cincinnati, OH, Ft. Wright, KY, Cleveland, OH and Indianopolis, IN. Janie will also continue in her role as partner with David Gerner in their company, PRISM Title and Closing Services. We wish Janie much success in her new role at Gerner and Kearns.
1990's
Farzana Aki '95 is now living in Florida with her husband and three children. She is a doctor trained in Bangladesh and hopes to one day get her medical degree recognized in the United States.
2010's
Rachel Bailey '12 was named the top plebe for the summer in the 14th platoon in her appointment to the United States Naval Academy. Congratulations, Rachel!

1960's
Congratulations to Sr. Dorothy Schuette, OSB '60 who is celebrating her Golden Jubilee in 2012. In addition, Sr. Dorothy was recently honored with the Lucille Hurt Robuck "Commitment to Corrections" award for her work with the jail and prison ministry. She has been a member of the national Exodus Prison Ministry for 20 years, and in 2009 was hired by the Diocese of Covington to coordinate its Jail Ministry Program. This program has nearly 50 volunteers and includes 14 counties in Kentucky. Congratulations again to Sr. Dorothy on both her award and her Golden Jubliee!
2000's
Katherine Hayes '09 spent three weeks this summer in Rwanda as a student leader through the Alternative Breaks program - a program develped by students where they can engage in social justice issues during their summer break. Her trip focused on the theme, "healing and justice after genocide." Her group talked to both survivors and perpetrators of the genocide, met with NGO and government organizations and learned the perspective of Rwandan youth. Katherine reports the country itself is breathtaking and very safe. We wish her luck in her upcoming senior year at American University. She is currently in the process of applying for a Fulbright research grant in the United Arab Emirates, and will soon begin work on a Peace Corps application and a Jesuit Volunteer Corps application. It sounds like it will be a busy and exciting year for Katherine!
