Villa is decked out for the holidays in fine style. The entry hall foyer has exquisite snowflakes and round, blue ornaments hanging from the ceiling, and a quaint blue and silver decorated Christmas tree welcoming students, staff, and visitors who enter our hallowed halls. Soon finals will be but a memory and our campus will be quiet for the Christmas holidays. The action will heat right back up as we welcome 2012. We hope all of you will plan to attend our second annual VMA Alumni Homecoming on January 5, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the gym. We will honor Ms. Shelly Rodenkirchen with the Sr. Vincentia Dolan Award of Excellence for Shelly’s many years of outstanding teaching at VMA. It should be a wonderful evening for Villa alumni, students and staff.
It’s been an active summer and fall for VMA alumni. We hosted an alumni soccer game on July 30th. 20 energetic alumni braved the heat and played a full soccer game. They consumed 150 Gatorades and water bottles! We also had our first alumni career day on October 21, 2011. 21 alumni and/or Villa family members shared their career experiences and information with Villa’s sophomores and juniors. Our students gave us very positive feedback on the dynamic alumni who participated in this important event. Next, we hosted a “Welcome to Louisville” event at Churchill Downs racetrack in Louisville, KY on November 19. It was a fun day at the races as many students from the University of Louisville, Bellarmine University and many local alumni from the Louisville area came to welcome the university students. All of the alumni enjoyed spending time with our special guests who also attended the event, Sr. Andrea Collopy, OSB and Sr. Nancy Kordenbrock, OSB.
Villa Rama is on February 25, 2012 – why don’t you come with a fellow alumni? Our theme this year is “Welcome to the BoardWalk”, and will take place at Receptions Banquet Center in Erlanger, KY. It’s sure to be a fun evening of good food, friends and exciting auction items.
Don’t forget about the Villa Madonna Academy Alumni Association Facebook page. Each month we post VMA related information, including “Hello Sister”, “Teacher, Teacher”, “Views for Villa”, “Trivia Corner” and “On the Field & On the Court”. Please remember we love to hear about and share your news and pictures with our alumni. I wish all of you a very wonderful Christmas and blessed New Year.
Sincerely,
Monica Wehrman Lonnemann ‘83
