Strategic Planning for the Future of VMA

Villa Madonna Academy has undertaken a strategic plan that involved the input of nearly 100 representatives of our faculty, parents, alumni, administration, Board of Directors and members of the St. Walburg Monastery community.  Working with the planning firm Catholic School Management of Madison, CT, VMA has initiated a strategic plan that defines goals and objectives for the next 5-10 years across 11 operational aspects of the Academy.

11 operational areas being addressed through the planning process, as well as the goals that have been identified for each area. To the left is a link to a document detailingsecond-year objectives that VMA has set forth for accomplishing these goals.

The School in the Community

Committees working along with the Board of Directors and administration have established the goals in each of these 11 areas. Those goals are as follows:

Goal #1 - CATHOLIC IDENTITY
All members of the Villa Madonna Academy community will continually promote VMA’s Catholic identity and demonstrate Benedictine values as the foundation of the school through the practice of reverence, respect, hospitality, prayer, peace, service, stewardship and scholarship.

Goal #2 - OWNERSHIP/GOVERNANCE/ADMINISTRATION 
The Villa Madonna Academy Board of Directors, the administration and the Benedictine Sisters of St. Walburg Monastery will collaborate to ensure that their structures and policies advance the mission of the school.

Goal #3 - ENROLLMENT
Villa Madonna Academy will attract and retain a diverse student population at an optimal enrollment level to fulfill its mission to educate students in grades K - 12 for full Christian participation in 21st century life. 

Goal #4 - CURRICULUM
Villa Madonna Academy will continually provide and enhance challenging curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular programs which prepare students in grades K-12 for active, God-centered lives as responsible, effective members of society.

Goal #5 - TECHNOLOGY
Villa Madonna Academy will continue to provide a technology program which enhances student learning, teaching and administrative processes.

Goal #6 - GUIDANCE/COUNSELING
Villa Madonna Academy will evaluate the needs of its students and the scope and structure of all guidance and counseling services in order to help students fulfill their potential.

Goal # 7 - STAFFING
Villa Madonna Academy will continue to attract, develop and retain dedicated, high-quality faculty and staff who provide excellent programs consistent with the Catholic identity, Benedictine values and mission of the school.

Goal #8 - FACILITIES
Villa Madonna Academy will design and implement a comprehensive facility master plan to support its academic, co-curricular, extracurricular and community outreach programs, including components for space utilization, maintenance and capital improvements.

Goal #9 - FINANCES
Villa Madonna Academy will develop and annually update a long-range financial plan with components for operations, capital needs, debt retirement, investment management and endowment growth.

Goal #10 - DEVELOPMENT/PUBLIC RELATIONS
Villa Madonna Academy will analyze current operations and will create and implement a long-range, comprehensive development plan for attracting resources in support of its academic, co-curricular and extracurricular programs.

Goal #11 - SCHOOL IN THE COMMUNITY
Villa Madonna Academy will elevate community awareness of its Catholic identity, Benedictine values, academic excellence and coeducational learning environment.
