KYA teaches the youth of the Commonwealth of Kentucky about procedures followed by Kentucky legislators to pass laws. Amanda Werner won a best speaker award at the conference.

Student Council Penny War Benefits Josh Cares Friday, November 19, 2010 (253 reads)
Josh Cares is a charity which assists hospitalized children. Villa Madonna’s High School Student Council conducted a “Penny War” to support the Josh Cares foundation. This charity provides companionship and comfort for children in critical care units at Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati. Villa classes competed against one another to collect the most change, and ended up with over $800 to donate to Josh Cares. (Photos by Eileen O'Connell.)

Three students were selected by audition for the All-State choir... All-State Choir 
Villa Madonna was pleased to have three students selected by audition for the All-State Choir hosted by the Kentucky division of the American Choral Directors Association. Grace Thomas, Abby Bricking, and Marie (Mo) DeGreen joined over 500 other elementary and junior high students from across the state to give an outstanding performance in Lexington, Kentucky, on Saturday, November 6, 2010. Northern Kentucky Elementary Honor Choir 
Eight students from Villa Madonna were selected to participate in the Northern Kentucky Honor Choirs for 5th Grade and 6th Grade. The concert was held on Friday, November 12, 2010, at Cold Springs Baptist Church. The program included songs in African languages and Latin. L to R: Madisyn McLaughlin, Emilie Guerin, Justin Gresham, Abby Bricking, Sarah Combs, Evana Dias, Elizabeth Nester, and Nora DeGreen.

On November 17, Villa Madonna senior Katie-Scarlett Skinner signed a national letter of intent to play golf for Northern Kentucky University. Katie's parents, Melanie and Richard, and her sister, Tara-Lynne, watched with pride as she signed. The Skinners reside in Burlington.

Tri-M Music Honary at Villa Madonna Academy... 
Students in Villa Madonna Academy’s Tri-M Music Honorary hosted a “Songs for Soup” concert in the school theater on November 15. They performed vocal and instrumental numbers in exchange for donations of canned goods. Lifeline Ministries in Elsmere will use the collected food to help families in need.
