Mrs. Burden Retires Tuesday, May 17, 2011 (607 reads)

After thirty two years of service at Villa Madonna Academy, Mrs. Therese Burden is retiring from teaching. A celebration in her honor on May 16 included surprise visits from former students and co-workers, skits by the Drama class, and gifts from faculty and students. VMA art students Mallory Butler and Megan Kanter presented Mrs. Burden and her husband, Frank, with portraits they had drawn.

Vennefron Signs National Letter of Intent Monday, May 16, 2011 (617 reads)

Congratulations to Villa Madonna senior Lauren Vennefron, who signed a National Letter of Intent to swim for St. Francis University (Loretto, PA). St. Francis is a Division I Franciscan school which competes in the Northeast Conference. In addition to her athletic skills, Lauren is a National Merit Finalist. She is the daughter of Louis and Kimberly Vennefron of Fort Mitchell (pictured).

Villa Madonna Academy first graders invited their parents to a Young Authors Celebration on May 6. Each child in the first grade wrote and published an original book. Parents were invited to a sharing session which included author readings and snacks.

Students at Villa Madonna Academy gathered around the school's statue of Mary on May 5 for the traditional Catholic custom of May crowning. The children brought flowers from their home gardens for the occasion.
