Catholic Schools Week January 30 - February 5
Wednesday, June 29, 2011 (159 reads)

Around the nation schools are celebrating Catholic Schools Week, with the theme "Catholic Schools: A+ for America." Villa Madonna Academy students are enjoying a number of activities based on this theme. One of them is an “A” scavenger hunt, in which students match photos of the letter A from hallway decorations with their locations throughout the school.  Sophomore Marius van Melle and freshman Mackie Stoll match the A from the fire alarm to a picture on the clue sheet.

Villa Madonna second graders chose famous people, and decorated cereal boxes to represent them. After preparing biographical studies about their subjects, the students presented their reports before classmates.

During Catholic Schools Week, Villa Madonna students challenged teachers to a Wii “Smarty Pants” game conducted in the school cafeteria following lunch. Junior Sarah Mustian worked the controller for the students, and math teacher Catherine Kennedy did the honors for the faculty. The teachers got off to a slow start in the rock bands category, but emerged victorious after the literature section.

Fourth graders model their footware on "Silly Socks Day."
