Villa Seniors Improve Their Edge

 Villa Madonna seniors....

 

 

Villa Madonna Seniors improved their life skills through a parent-designed program which included tips on appearance, etiquette, resume development, and interview techniques. Enquirer “Image Rules” columnist Jill Haney is instructing the teens on business luncheon manners during a meal at Summit Hills Country Club.

 

 

Michael Haynes and Ryan Laber were grateful for their chance to be interviewed by Procter and Gamble Account Executive Alanna Watson in September.  Their practice interview, complete with feedback, was part of the "Improve Your Edge" program engineered by Villa parents to help teens develop life skills.

Villa Madonna Academy thanks Mrs. Melissa Collins, Mrs. Sharon Haynes, The Villa PTAO and the Villa FAP for organizing and sponsoring this program. We also thank the generous business professionals who contributed of their time to conduct mock interviews with our students:

College Board Announces AP Scholars

The College Board is pleased to announce...

 

 

 

The College Board is pleased to announce that thirty Villa Madonna students have been named AP Scholars, based on results of Advanced Placement tests taken in the spring.  High school students can do college level work through the AP program, earning college credits for their work if they score high enough (3 or above on a scale of 1-5) on these standardized tests. Those who qualify for credits in multiple classes earn the distinction of being named AP Scholars.

 

The following students are AP Scholars, having received grades of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams:  Villa seniors Tyler Arnzen, Ben Conniff, Elena Hamilton, Cecily Kennedy, Hawken Lord, Connor Louis, Payton Lutz, Jessa Plattner, Caroline Spicker, and Matt Stapleton; Class of 2010 - Evan Angus, Chelsea Case, Chris Cauhorn, Mary Kate Greenwood, Olivia Haas, Olivia Keller, Peter Miller, Karl Schmitt, Ben Smith, Zach Steinkoenig, Gavin Wichmann.                                 

 

 

VMA seniors Ryan Laber, Corey Martin, and Sarahmarie Specht-Bird, along with Taylor Poe, class of 2010, were named AP Scholars with Honor.  They scored grades of 3 or higher on four or more AP exams, with an average of at least 3.25 on all exams taken.

 

Five 2010 Villa Madonna graduates and one current senior  were named AP Scholars with Distinction. Andrew Flach, Amy Kreutzer, Monica Pence, and Kim Schroer,  along with Hannah Knochelmann (class of 2011) had grades of 3 or higher on five or more AP exams, with an average of at least 3.5 on all exams.

Girls HS Golf Team Wins NKAC Championship

 On September 20...

 

On September 20, the Villa Madonna Girls Varsity Golf Team, (L to R) Nicole Zatorski, Katie Ransdell, Katie-Scarlet Skinner, Katie Gross, and Lauren Wagner, coached by Ken Theissen, won the Division II NKAC Championship at Flagg Springs GC with a team score of 345, their lowest of the season!

It is the 8th time in 9 years Villa girls have won the NKAC.  In addition, Katie-Scarlett Skinner, who shot a tremendous 76, became the first Villa NKAC Medalist in 3 years.  Photo by Tony Wagner.

Villa Spanish Teachers Offer Presentation at Conference

Villa Madonna Spanish teachers Andrea Suarez and Patty Bachman...

Villa Madonna teachers Andrea Suarez and Patty Bachman presented a talk entitled “Singing Our Way to Proficiency” at the Kentucky World Language Association Conference, held in Lexington on September 16 - 18.  Senora Suarez is a native of Uruguay.  Senora Bachman became fluent in Spanish through study at Ohio University. Both have taught in the K - 8 foreign language program at Villa Madonna since 2008.
