Villa Madonna Academy is proud to announce that junior Mirjam Wailzer has placed 1st in the state for French III, and 6th nationally. Freshman Nicole Zatorski has placed 1st in KY in French II, and 6th nationally. Sophomore Meggie Lund ranks 5th in KY for French III, and 7th grader Brianna Desmarais ranks 9th in the state for French level 01A. Sophomore Kirsten Giesbrecht placed 10th in KY for French III. Sydney Maxwell is 11th in Kentucky for French IV and Maddie Handler is 11th in KY for French II. Also in French II, Radek Lord placed 12th in Kentucky, Whitney Cox 13th, and Shanna Doumont 14th. Natalie Schulte is 14th in KY for French III. On the elementary level, fourth graders Karl Adrianza, Adam Fortner, and Katelynn Heyenbruch placed, respectively, 9th, 10th, and 13th in the nation for Level 2A; Luc Balson placed 14th in the nation for level 1A, and Emilie Guerin earned 16th on the national level for French 2B. Mr. Ben Tilley teaches French to Villa Madonna students in grades K through 8, while Sr. Mary Carol Henggeler, CDP, teaches at the high school level.

Villa Golfer Wins State Award Tuesday, May 03, 2011 (360 reads)
At NKHSAA headquarters in Lexington on May 1...  Villa Madonna Senior Katie Ransdell was notified in April that she had won the Regional Kentucky High School Athletic Association Sportsmanship Award and, as a result, was eligible for the State Award. All regional award winners were invited to a dinner May 1 at the KHSAA headquarters in Lexington. Out of the 293 schools in Kentucky, 16 regions, 15 sanctioned sports - two winners were selected: one girl, one boy. Katie Randsell, Villa Madonna senior and golfer, is the winner of the Women’s Sportsmanship award for the state of Kentucky! Duke University Program Selects Villa 7th Graders Tuesday, April 12, 2011 (315 reads)
Twelve Villa Madonna 7th Graders... 
Twelve Villa Madonna 7th graders have qualified for State Recognition in the Duke University Talent Identification Program by scoring very competitively on the ACT college entrance exam. Congratulations to Grace Giordano, Dani Noll, Sydney O’Connor, Madeline Mitchell, Brianna Desmarais, Nicholas Seifert, Ayo Omoloja, Peyton Curry, Austin Sweeney, Nicholas Weaver, Michael Bracken, and Emma Bateman. In addition, because they scored in the top 3% of 7th graders who have taken the ACT, Brianna Desmarais, Sydney O’Connor, and Nicholas Seifert have been invited to the Grand Recognition Ceremony to be held at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina on May 23.

VMA Junior Chosen for Naval Academy Seminar Thursday, April 07, 2011 (430 reads)
United States Naval Academy in Annapolis  Villa Madonna Junior Rachel Bailey has been selected to participate in the United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar in Annapolis, Maryland this June. During this program, high school students will live in the midshipman hall, attend academic classes, and participate in physical training, experiencing the daily life at the Academy. In addition, participants may automatically apply for admission to the Naval Academy. Rachel is the daughter of Mark and Mary Jo Bailey of Taylor Mill.
