Technology is an integral part of the educational process at Villa Madonna Academy.  Our technology curricula in both the Elementary School and the High School prepare students to use a variety of technology tools and applications.  Villa Madonna believes that mastery of these skills is essential to meet the demands of today’s college learning environments and the working world of the 21st century.

Villa Madonna Academy invests heavily in the latest technologies, providing our faculty, staff and students with quality hardware, software, web tools and on-site support.

Quick Facts about our Technologies

We operate a wireless network on 802.11g standards throughout our Elementary School, High School, and Gymnasium buildings. In addition, every classroom is wired for Network/Internet access.

We have two computer labs which contain 25 computers each, networked printers (black & white and color), and full projector presentation capabilities. Our Elementary Computer lab is new this year, boasting custom-built desktop PC's based on Intel Core 2 Duo technology, all PCs use Windows XP, Microsoft Office 2002 and Adobe’s Creative Suite 3 products (Photoshop, In-Design, Illustrator, etc.)

All of our teachers
have computers in the classroom which include:
40 - Toshiba Tecra Laptop PCs (Core Duo T2300 processors, 512MB RAM, 60 gigabyte HDD)
5  - Toshiba Tablet PCs (Core Duo T2300 processors, 1GIG RAM, 80 gigabyte HDD)
2  - Custom Built Personal Computers (AMD Sempron 3000+ processors, 512MB RAM, 120 HDD)

We have 13 Desktop PCs and 2 Laptop PCs in the High School library for use by students. We also have 6 Desktop PCs in the Elementary School library for use by students. Our PCs in both libraries are new this year and are custom-built desktops based on Intel Core 2 Duo technology. All PCs use Windows XP, Microsoft Office 2002 and Adobe’s Creative Suite 3 (Photoshop, In-Design, Illustrator, etc.) products.

We have sixteen digital cameras available for student and teacher use and there are 18 networked printers in various buildings on the campus, 4 of which are full color printers.

We have 20 LCD projection systems for computer presentations, 9 are installed in High School classrooms for use with our 5 SMART Boards.  The remaining systems are mobile to classrooms as needed by our teachers.

We have a 27-station Computerized Language Lab separate and distinct from our computers labs, offering our foreign language teachers the opportunity to engage students in recorded listening and speaking skills activities as part of their daily learning process.

Our website is powered by an interactive web page update software system which allows each teacher to update his/her webpage at any time with no need for complex technology training and skill.   As of this year, we have introduced Edline to our teachers, parents and students enabling us to post weekly academic progress reports online for students in grades 4 – 12.

Our
On-line Library Catalog Management Alexandria) is available to parents and students via our website.

We have dedicated full-time on-site support personnel to assist our teachers and staff members with technology-related questions and issues.
