Liturgy and Prayer
The spiritual lives of our students are nourished throughout the year. The student body and individual classes are given opportunities to gather together and share their faith.
School Liturgies provide the entire student body an opportunity to gather together on holy days and other occasions. Students take appropriate roles in every Mass as lectors, altar servers, Eucharistic ministers, ushers, and musicians.
Small Group Prayer Services are held during Religion classes. These prayer services give students an opportunity to think and reflect on their roles and the roles of others in the Church
Retreats and Peer Ministry
All students participate in a retreat each year. This experience allows them to spend time with their peers in prayer, reflection, and discussion about issues that affect their lives. Trained peer ministers plan and help to conduct many of our retreats.
Freshmen participate in a one-day retreat that highlights their interests, talents, and gifts. We choose an off-campus location and spend the day with the students focusing on team building.
Sophomores participate in a one-day retreat that highlights their interests, talents, and gifts. We choose an off-campus locations and spend the day with the students focusing on dynamics of prayer.
Juniors attend a one-night, two-day retreat at an off-campus location, where they reflect on who they are and on God's place in their lives.
Seniors attend a two-night, three-day Christian Awakening retreat, looking back on their Villa Madonna Academy years and thinking about their future.
Service
Central to our Christian Mission is the challenge to serve others. At Villa Madonna Academy, we accomplish this mission in many diverse ways.
Immersion Opportunities give students a chance to experience other cultures and other ways of life first hand. In line with our Benedictine values some juniors and seniors will travel to Guatemala this summer to assist families.
Bi-Monthly Service allows our students to interact with and assist various groups, by tutoring and mentoring at Glenn-O-Swing elementary school.
Food, Clothing, and Gift Drives benefit those in need, both locally and nationally. Villa Madonna Academy students have collected canned food items for hurricane victims, and provided gifts for adopted families each Christmas.
