Villa Madonna Math teacher Janet Cropper challenged her 7th graders to use their knowledge of math and science to construct bridges capable of supporting weight. She provided each group of students with a packet containing newspaper, paper clips, paper cups, soft candy, and masking tape. Only the provided materials could be used for the building project. The bridges were tested to see how much weight each would support by placing piles of math books on their spans.
