Villa's Foreign Language Students 1st at State

 

Villa Madonna 8th grader Rachel Paxton took first place in French Costume at the state level foreign language festival held May 10 in Lexington.  She completed a high school level French 1 class this year.  After researching historic French costumes and the life of Empress Josephine, Rachel re-created one of Josephine’s dresses, sewing it herself.  She is the daughter of Karen and Graham Paxton, of Burlington.

 

In other state language festival results, VMA freshman Hannah Knochelmann placed 1st in French reading proficiency and 3rd in French listening proficiency, and junior Conrad Kresge was 1st in the Latin project category.  Magdalena Wailzer earned 2nd place in French listening proficiency.  Corinne Martin was 2nd and Amy Kreutzer 3rd in Spanish reading proficiency, Sarahmarie Specht-Bird captured 3rd and Monica Pence 5th in Spanish writing proficiency, Erin Deye was 8th in Spanish Art.
