Middle School students competed at the district level for Governor’s Cup honors on January 24 and 26. In District 50, which comprises Beechwood, Blessed Sacrament, and Villa Madonna, Villa Madonna captured first place in Quick Recall after two overtime tie-breaker rounds. Josh Kahmann, Meggie Lund, Randy Lund, Sarah Mustian, Basia Szaflarski, and Evan Tingley competed on the Quick Recall team.
In individual events, Villa students captured the following honors:
Arts and Humanities: Kirsten Giesbrecht – 1st, Elsa Kennedy – 5th;
Language Arts: Meggie Lund – 4th, Megan Monohan – 5th;
Math: Evan Tingley – 1st, Basia Szafklarski – 4th, Sarah Mustian – 5th ;
Science: Josh Kahmann - 2nd;
Social Studies: Josh Kahmann - 3rd, Grant Guess - 5th;
Written composition Megan Monohan – 1st, Mia Rosado – 4th.
Villa Madonna earned the district's 2nd place over-all trophy.
All of the below students advance to middle school regional competition on Thursday, February 14 and Saturday, February 16 at Woodland Middle School.
