Villa Madonna Provides Food and Coats for Needy
Villa Madonna Provides Food and Coats for Needy
Inspired by their monthly volunteer work at Welcome House in Covington, members of Villa Madonna’s Junior High Student Council wanted to do more. They noticed during their work that Welcome House has a great need for nonperishable food items, and decided to conduct an ongoing collection for such items at school. Each month, they ask fellow students to bring in a specific type of canned good (such as vegetables or fruit) to be donated to Welcome House.   When a carload-full accumulates, students and parent volunteers deliver the donations. Welcome House works with families in crisis and individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Villa high school students, meanwhile, are helping the needy through the National Honor Society's outreach.  They are collecting coats for distribution to families of Holy Trinity School in Bellevue.  Later this month, the senior class will be sponsoring a Christmas party for the children of Brighton Center in Newport.

National Honor Society members Emily Greenwood and Christina Bailey help gather coats to take to Holy Trinity school.
