At Villa Madonna Academy, the Benedictine Identity Committee has installed a permanent reminder of Saint Benedict's admonition, “Let Peace be your quest and aim.” Just outside the school’s door is a Peace Pole, a wooden post emblazoned with words of peace in many languages spoken by members of the Villa community. Mrs. Janet Pemberton, elementary art teacher, designed and created the Peace Pole, which is decorated with ornaments made by Villa students in grades K through 8. Mr. John Martini, a Villa parent, helped to install it. On April 4, the Peace Pole was dedicated with a ceremony including prayers, songs, and poetry about peace.
