Model United Nations Assembles in Louisville
Model United Nations Assembles in Louisville

Students from around Kentucky met in Louisville March 15-17 for the Kentucky United Nations Assembly. Villa Madonna 8th graders Emily Bedell, Alicia Helfrich, Rachel Paxton, and Chelsea Renner, who represented the country of Panama, were pleased that the U.N. Proposal they sponsored was passed by the General Assembly.  Most proposals get defeated in the general assembly, where all countries represented in the U.N. vote on them.  Their bill allowed INTERPOL to access internet service providers in cases where cyber crime has been committed, allowing any country which suffers due to online crime to extradite cyber criminals, so that the criminals face prosecution under that particular country’s legal system. Villa 6 th grader Nicole Zatorski received an award for Outstanding Ambassador for speaking, and 8 th grader Zacko Rightmire won an award for Outstanding Member of the Press.  Zacko served as editor of the East Junior KUNA paper while at KUNA.
