VMA French Students Score Well on Le Grand Concours Test

 It is our pleasure to announce the results of the Le Grand Concours test that students in French class took several weeks ago. Special congratulations to the following students.

FLES DIVISION

·         1A  Honorable Mentions go to Karl Adrianza (3rd grade), Adam Fortner (3rd grade), Grant Gieske (3rd grade), Sam Paley (2nd grade), Julienne Steffen (2nd grade), James Carroll (1st grade) Sydney Balson (1st grade), Max McCauley (1st grade), Steven Devoto (1st grade), and  Justin Graner (1st grade).

·         2A  Honorable Mentions go to Sophia Chauvin (4th grade), Jenna Doumont (4th grade),  & Brennan Schafer (4thgrade).

·         2B  Honorable Mentions go to Maya Jaafari (6th grade) & Brianna Desmarais (6th grade)

FLES DIVISION 2A

·         Certificate of Success will be going to Meredith Plummer (4th grade)

·         Emilie Guerin ranked 10th in the nation & is believed to have ranked high within the State of Kentucky.  (Awaiting results—she is also in 4th grade).

7th / 8th grade results:

·         Division 01A Honorable Mentions go to Marley Wallace (7th grade) & Bailey Keith (7th grade).

·         Sean Nemann ranked 9th in the State.

·         Nicole Zatorski ranked 2nd in State, 5th in the nation.

Duke Unversity Talent Identification Program

 Duke University Talent Identification Program:  This year 30 seventh grade students (83% of the class) at Villa were invited to participate in the Duke University Talent Identification Program (TIP). This program seeks to locate academically gifted seventh grade students. To qualify, a student must have scored in the top 5% of the national age-grade norms on a recognized standardized achievement test in verbal, mathematics, or composite. They had the opportunity to take the ACT or SAT as seventh grade TIP participants.  Congratulations again to these students for this outstanding achievement!  Of these 30 students, 18 students chose to participate in the Duke TIP by taking either the ACT or SAT. Of these 18 students, 14 have received special recognition.  Twelve students qualify for the State Recognition ceremony at Western Kentucky University on May 28 by scoring very competitively on these college entrance tests. The twelve students who are receiving State Recognition are Regan Bales, Eric Baugh, Nicholas Boucher, Braxton Foote, Charissa Junker, Kayla Kuris, John Oldfield, Kelsey O’Sullivan, Sarah Penney, Monica Spritzky, Madison Trenkamp, and Amanda Werner. Congratulations to these outstanding Villa students!  In addition, two students qualify for Grand Recognition! Eric Baugh and Nicholas Boucher are invited to the Grand Ceremony to be held at Duke University, Durham, NC on May 24.   They are in the top 3% of seventh graders in the nation who have taken the ACT.

Eighth Graders Place at Foreign Language Festival

 Several of the eighth grade students taking French I and Spanish I participated in the Foreign Language Festival this past weekend at NKU.  Congratulations to the following students who placed at the festival:

French – 1st place in Literary Recitation – Nicole Zatorski

French – 1st place in Listening I – Nicole Zatorski

VMA Elementary Students Compete at Regional Govenor's Cup Competition

  Congratulations to our Elementary Quick Recall Team!  This weekend, students competed in the Regional Governor’s Cup Competition.  The Quick Recall team placed 2nd.  Michael Chang placed 1st in the Science competition and 2nd in the Math competition.  Overall Villa Madonna Academy won 2nd place at the competition. This means that VMA placed 2nd out of 20 elementary schools in our region!  Way to go J.

VMA Sixth Grader Wins School Geography Bee

 You may remember that Andrew Jones was the winner of our school Geography Bee.  After winning the Bee, Andrew took a written test to see if he qualified at the state level.  I am pleased to announce that Andrew Jones qualifies for the State National Geographic Bee.  The state Bee will be held on Friday, April 9 in Bowling Green Kentucky.  Congratulations, Andrew!
