Summer Work-Study Positions

VMA is seeking to hire several High School students who would like to earn part of their 2008-2009 tuition by joining VMA’s summer maintenance and housekeeping team. For more information, call Mr. Franchi at 331-6333, extension 210, or email him at efranchi@villamadonna.net.

Business/Technology Teacher

Villa Madonna Academy High School, a 9 – 12, Catholic, co-educational High School, is seeking a full- time Business/Technology teacher for grades 9-12 for the 2008 – 2009 academic year.   

 At Villa Madonna Academy High School, our Business/Technology curriculum teaches technology, communication, critical thinking, leadership, ethics and team building skills through courses offered to our students as curriculum electives.

 

The Business/Technology teacher teaches courses in: computer programming (Java for AP Computer Science), desktop publishing (Adobe CS3 Photoshop and InDesign), web design (HTML and VBScript), Accounting, and Basic Economics.

 

The following qualities are desired in the ideal candidate:

 

  • A solid background in accounting basics, financial statements, and economic issues.
  • A strong background in computer science and programming with the ability to explain programming concepts to novices in innovative and exciting ways.
  • The ability to motivate students to be creative and to communicate their ideas well.
  • The ability to practice patience, fairness, tolerance and a sense of humor in everyday teaching. 

 

 

The following proficiencies are required of the ideal candidate:

 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access)
  • Proficiency with Adobe CS3 (or CS2) Photoshop and InDesign
  • Proficiency with web design concepts, web programming languages (HTML, VBScript or JavaScript)
  • Proficiency with the Java Programming language (complex data structures - not required) 

Preferred:  Kentucky 5 – 12 Business/Technology Certification in addition to the normal requirements for a Kentucky High School Teacher.
